Published ranges for Los Angeles run from about $125 to $363 for a general bug treatment and $785 to $1,777 for termite control, while whole-structure tent fumigation is often quoted at $2,000 to $4,500 for a typical home. These are estimates from cost publications; Los Angeles Pest Control confirms the real price on site before work starts.

Los Angeles pests follow water and wind more than temperature. Irrigation and heat drive Argentine ants from May to September, drywood termites swarm in late summer and fall, Santa Ana winds run from October to March, and the wet window from November to April sends ants and others indoors. This calendar lays it out month by month.

Drywood termites live inside dry, above-ground wood such as attics, rafters and fascia, and need no soil contact. Subterranean termites nest in the ground and reach wood through soil contact. UC IPM calls subterranean termites California's most important termite pest and the western drywood termite the second most important.

Argentine ants come inside for water and shelter. UC research shows supercolonies spread with irrigation within weeks, ants search buildings for water in hot dry weather, and they may move in to escape rain. Bait stations are the most effective control, especially from winter to early spring.

Pocket gophers dig wherever the soil is workable, and irrigation keeps it that way. In Los Angeles, watered lawns, planting beds and garden slopes can show fresh mounds in any month. UC IPM names trapping, after a probe finds the main burrow, as the common control method. Los Angeles Pest Control can send a technician.

Roof rats are climbers that nest above ground, so they move from palm crowns, ivy, citrus and avocado trees onto roofs and into attics and wall voids. UC IPM advises keeping branches 3 feet from the roofline, trimming palm frond skirts and thinning oleanders. A technician finds the entry points.

Coyotes, raccoons, skunks and opossums are wildlife, and California's Department of Fish and Wildlife governs them, not a pest-control licence. A technician from Los Angeles Pest Control does not trap or relocate them. What a technician can do is seal the structure; CDFW and LA County Animal Care handle the animals.

Los Angeles County is split among several vector control districts, mainly the Greater Los Angeles County district, the San Gabriel Valley district and the West district. They handle mosquitoes and similar public-health pests. They do not treat household rodents, ants or termites, so those calls go to the county program or a technician.
